COVID-19 Case Update, This Week's Testing Schedule & Surveillance Testing Groups

According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (link to CDC website) the COVID-19 transmission rate in Monroe County remains high. Mask wearing indoors in public is encouraged.

COVID-19 Testing Sessions Held Today and Tomorrow
Located in the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130), MCC’s Testing Center will be open 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. today, May 2 and 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, May 3. No appointment is necessary. MCC uses COVID-19 antigen rapid tests—a simple and more comfortable nasal test.

This Week’s Surveillance Testing Groups
COVID-19 testing helps MCC quickly respond to potential outbreaks of COVID-19. Surveillance testing of specific groups of students and employees is an important part of our spring health and safety plan. Colleagues who work in the following departments are invited and encouraged to participate in COVID-19 testing this week:

  • Athletics
  • Housing and Residence Life
  • MCC Bookstore
  • Tutoring and Academic Assistance Centers

Last Week’s Testing Results:
Following are results received for MCC-administered COVID-19 tests during the week of April 25:

  • 1 positive case was identified among students, faculty and staff who participated in MCC-administered testing during the week of April 25.
  • 9 students are isolating off campus.
  • 1 student is isolating on campus.
  • No students are in quarantine and precautionary quarantine.
  • MCC 7-Day Rolling Average On-campus Positivity Rate
    • Students: 0.92%
    • Employees: 0.0%
    • Overall average on-campus positivity rate since onset of pooled testing: 0.32%
  • Monroe County 7-day average positivity rate: 14.4%

Verified Employee COVID Isolation and Quarantine Data as of May 1:*

  • 10 MCC employees reported a verified county health department-issued COVID isolation order between April 25 and May 1.
  • No employee cases were identified by on-campus administered testing last week.
  • 5 employees remain under a verified COVID isolation order based upon off-campus testing as of May 1.
  • 5 employees completed a mandatory county-issued COVID isolation order, with a 5-day masking requirement.
  • No employee is currently subject to a Monroe County Department of Health quarantine order.
