MCC Daily Tribune

Greetings of Gratitude

Thank you notes from across the campus continue to roll-in. The link is still open, so please submit your thank you here!!!

Sarah Pantaleo, Associate Director of Testing Services because, "The placement process has been upended by COVID-19: on-campus testing has become impossible and remote testing has proven extremely challenging, which necessitated the adoption of an entirely different, provisional placement system. Sarah was instrumental in guiding us through that process. Her poise, professionalism, and hard work were noticed and appreciated. We are lucky to have her."

Peggy Harvey-Lee, Single Stop because Mathematics, was nominated twice. First because, "Within two hours of contacting Peggy about a student I was desperately concerned about in our department, Peggy had not only responded to me (along with one of our other amazing colleagues, Ivan Matthew, who also took action to help), but she also reached out to the student. By the next morning, the student was accessing the resources he needed, and his faith was restored that faculty and staff at MCC were there to support him. Without Peggy intervening so quickly and effectively, I'm not sure what would have happened with the student, who had been very successful so far. I feel so fortunate to work with Peggy and our other supportive colleagues in Student Engagement at the Downtown Campus!"

And, because, "Peggy has been a calming spirit during this time of uncertainty. She sends positive and affirming emails to the entire staff daily. When we are feeling stressed she reminds us why we do the work we do and how much we're impacting our student's lives. She then encourages us to take a break, unplug, and come back to it later. You can almost see the smile on her face while she speaks, even while on the phone. I'm grateful for her leadership!"

Linda Carson, Professor of Mathematics, was nominated because, "Linda shared her expertise with technology (Blackboard and OneNote, for example) with others who have never taught online. Even though her plate of responsibilities was overflowing, she took the time to help others. She was also willing to help one on one with Zoom, something that she was still learning herself. Linda is just amazing and very giving of her time."

Charlene Linzy, Brittany Granville, Nicole Reinholtz, Marisol Reyes from the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) were sent, "A big THANK YOU for reaching out to the 200+ opportunity students and giving encouraging words. Everyone has worked tirelessly."
