AAWCC Crohns Walk Team

The American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) Service Committee is proud to bring you the AAWCC Crohn’s Walk Team.  The Crohns and Colitis Foundation of American (CCFA) hold their walk at MCC on June 25th, 2011 with registration at 3:30pm in the Hall of Fame. The walk begins at 5pm.

The walk not only raises funds for those affected with Crohns, it’s also a fun outdoor event with music and free food.  Last year, while doing facepainting  for the kids, I met Halle, an 8-year-old who spent several months in the hospital. All of her friends came out and created a team called Hal’s Pals!

I hope you will consider joining our MCC team.  The walker who raises the most in pledges will receive a  Take Steps Be Heard silver bead.  (These beads are also on sale at
https://web.me.com/arttechcastingco/Take_Steps_Jewelry/Welcome.html.)

If you cannot join us please consider donating to the team at

About Crohn’s and colitis

More than 500,000 Americans suffer from Crohns disease.  Approximately 1 in every 550 people or 018% of the American population has been diagnosed with Crohns.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).  Both are marked by an  abnormal reaction from the immune system,  which mistakes microbes such as bacteria for foreign or invading substances and it launches an attack, causing chronic inflammation, ulcerations, and bowel injury.   For more about Crohn’s and colitis, visit
