MCC United Way Campaign Surpasses Goal

I have known for many months now that the Monroe Community College family is comprised of some remarkable individuals and that, collectively, you are a force to be reckoned with. The news I learned last week from United Way Co-chairs Pat Bates and Annette Agness has solidified my early observation.

Annette and Pat have given me the honor of telling you that the 2009 Monroe Community College United Way Campaign has surpassed our goal of $105,000 by $4,000. The MCC family -- full- and part-time employees, retirees and adjunct faculty-- has opened their hearts and pledged $109,000 so far. The pledges continue to come in. The numbers are impressive:

* 616 individuals made pledges;
* More than 100 are new givers (that is, they did not give last year); and
* Nearly 200 people increased their gift this year.

So many people in this community are less able to give this year because of unemployment. So many more people need United Way services as the economy pressures them like never before. We have been fortunate at MCC. Thank you so much for sharing your good fortune with the Greater Rochester community.

You’ve shown, once again, that we are the community’s college.
