News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees met in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, Monroe B on the Brighton Campus on Monday, February 5, 2018 and took the following actions:

1. Accepted the Interim Financial Reports as of November 30 and December 31, 2017.

2. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of November and December 2017.

3. Accepted the annual audit of Monroe Community College for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2017, as conducted by Bonadio & Co., LLP.

4. Approved an unpaid leave of absence in accordance with Article 18, Other Leaves of Absence, of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association for Aimee Calhoun, Mathematics, from January 22 - May 24, 2018.

5. Adopted the revised "Tobacco-Free, Smoke-Free, & Vape-Free Policy" effective February 5, 2018. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

6. Conducted an Executive Session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105, subsection (e): collective negotiations pursuant to Article 14 of the Civil Service Law.

The Board heard presentations from

  • Bonadio & Co. regarding the College's annual audit;
  • Vice President, Student Services Dr. Lloyd Holmes on Strategic Plan Dashboards Direction Two: Student Success;
  • Assistant to the President, Title IX and Inclusion Kristin Lowe on "How the College Addresses Harassment in the Workplace";
  • President Kress regarding "Employee Engagement at MCC," results of the recent Gallup Q12 survey (attached);
  • Shared Governance groups (Amanda Colosimo for Faculty Senate); and
  • Chief Advancement Officer and Executive Director of the MCC Foundation Gretchen Wood on MCC Foundation initiatives.

Board Chair Dr. Barbara Lovenheim welcomed new board member Dr. Joe Carbone.
