Changes to Network Printers

After more than a decade in service, the print server MCC-B151 is being retired on February 17, 2020. This server provides printing services for only office users at the Brighton, ATC, and PSTF campuses.

Over the past two years, most users have been gradually transitioned to the new print server (MCC-B150). Any user that is still connecting to print queues on MCC-B151 will need to transition to the new server prior to the February 17 shut down.

The process to remove and recreate these network print queues is quick, and we ask that users verify that they are printing to queues on the current MCC-B150 server at their earliest convenience. Provided below are the steps on a Windows 10 PC to verify all network print queues are using MCC-B150, and includes steps on removing and re-connecting to any printers on the old MCC-B151 server.

  • Click Start and begin typing 'printers' to bring up the Printers & Scanners interface
  • In the list of printers that appears, look for any devices that indicate that they are being connected to from MCC-B151 (i.e. P-01-111-01 on mcc-b151). If any exist on MCC-B151, make a note of the queue name(s). Any print queues on MCC-B150 are valid and no action is required on them
  • For any existing print queues on MCC-B151, click on this printer and click the Remove device button
  • Click the Windows Start button and type \\mcc-b150 and hit the Enter key
  • This will bring up a window containing all of the existing print queues on the current print server for office printing at Brighton, ATC and PSTF
  • Browse to the desired print queue and double-click to install
  • Once installed, verify that the printer now appears in the Printers & Scanners window from the earlier step
  • Repeat the process for any other print queues located on the old MCC-B151 server
  • Optionally, you can set one of your installed network print queues as your default printer by clicking on the entry in the list of printers, clicking the Manage button, and clicking the Set as default button

If you experience any issues during this transition, please contact Technical Support at 292-TECH (8324) option 3.
