Monroe Men's & Women's NJCAA Region III Swimming & Diving Champions

Monroe Community College men's and women's swimming & diving teams captured the NJCAA Region III Northeast District Championships this past weekend.

Monroe women's team finished with 510 points, while Monroe men's team finished with 635 points to earn themselves the Region III Champions title.

Men's Highlights:

  • Sean Mahaney won the 1000 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Butterfly, 500 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard Butterfly and assisted the team in winning the 800 Yard Relay for the Tribunes naming him MCC Men's Swimmer of the Meet.
  • Corey Neas won the 1 and 3 Mtr Diving for both the prelims and finals for Monroe.
  • Samuel Cottrell came in first in the 100 and 200 Yard Breaststroke for the Tribunes and assisted the team in winning the 800 Yard Relay.
  • Ryan Aikens won the 200 Yard Backstroke for Monroe and assisted the team in winning the 800 Yard Relay as well.
  • Christopher Page earned himself first place in the 50 Yard Breaststroke for the Tribunes.
  • Mykiel Lee won the 50 Yard Butterfly for Monroe.

Women's Highlights:

  • Rachel Knittle won the 200 Yard IM, 50 Yard Backstroke, 100 Yard Backstroke and 200 Yard Backstroke for Monroe naming her MCC Women's Swimmer of the Meet.
  • Samantha Pratt earned herself first place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, 400 Yard IM, 1650 Yard Freestyle for the Tribunes and helped her team win the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay as well.
  • Isabella Klewicki came in first in the 50 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard IM for Monroe.
  • Katherine Perry won the 100 Yard Butterfly and 50 Yard Butterfly for the Tribunes.

Monroe Community College swimming & diving coaching staff also earned themselves the Northeast District Coaching Team of the Year. Congratulations to head coach, Dan Dubois and his three assistant coaches, Dale Pearce, John Rodman and Megan Mack.

The team will head down to Florida the first week in March to compete in the swimming and diving national championship.
