MCC Among Colleges Discussing Student Enrollment in RBJ Article

The Rochester Business Journal's Feb. 18 issue contains an article focusing on student enrollment patterns at area colleges, including MCC. Christine Casalinuovo-Adams, associate vice president for Enrollment Management, is quoted in the article, titled "Local colleges see varying effects of pandemic on enrollment levels" (Pages 10-11). St. John Fisher College and Rochester Institute of Technology representatives were also interviewed.

Key takeaways from Christine's insight as shared in the article:

  • MCC is seeing enrollment beginning to bounce back. "For the spring 2022 semester, we saw an uptick in student applications and registration for the first time in a long time. We’ve had two really good summer enrollments and we expect another good summer. We expect fall 2022 to be on-trend for what we’re seeing this spring."
  • MCC has been responsive to the changing needs of students by offering more stackable credentials linked to “pandemic- and recession-proof job" opportunities, includiing those in engineering, optics, computer science, education and health care.
  • MCC is also seeing a continued demand for on-campus student housing and an overall appreciation of value. “For our traditional high school market, affordability is on the minds of students and parents. Financially, MCC is a huge advantage for students,” including adult learners.
