State Retirement News for Tier 5 & 6 Members

Under legislation signed into law April 9, 2022, both the NYS Local Retirement System (also known as Employee Retirement System or ERS) and the NYS Teachers’ Retirement System have reduced the vesting period for Tier 5 and 6; members will now vest with 5 years of service rather the ten.

Although the vesting period for the retirement systems have changed, retirement from MCC continues to be based upon your collective bargaining agreement.
