Annual Golf Tournament Supports Jefferson Avenue Childhood Development Center

On August 6, Building Services held their 6th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament at the Braemar Country Club in Spencerport. It was a beautiful day for golf and for all involved in the tournament.  Ten teams of four gathered this year, three more than last year.

Thist year, the golf tournament sponsored a local charity, the Jefferson Avenue Childhood Development Center, an organization supported by Heze Simmons, VP of Administrative Services.  Donations were raised through a 50-50 raffle, a closest to the pin contest, longest drive and a game called zig-zag.  VP Simmons also generously agreed to match all donated funds.  In total, $482 was raised for the charity.

The tournament ended in a tie between two teams with an impressive-9 under par final score.  In order to break the tie, scores were checked based on the hardest hole to the easiest per the ratings on the scorecard.  From that calculation, the ultimate winner was declared to be the team representing the Athletic department:  Skip Bailey, Ed Bailey, Jeff Parrinello and Doug Henneberg.  The security team of Lee Struble, Ray Sprague, Steve O'Donnel and Brian O'Donnell took second.  The winners donated their prizes to the charity.

The closest to the pin game winner was Brian O'Donnell, and the longest drive was won by Skip Bailey.  The zig-zag game (closest to a zig-zag line on the fairway) was won by Kathy Blain and Bob Sylvester, and the 50-50 game was won by Chris Belle-Isle, who donated his winnings to the charity.

John Haines would like to give his sincere appreciation to those who helped get the tournament going.  Next year's tournament will be on August 5, 2011. Hope to see you there!
