The Community College Times’ article “Agriculture sheds its dated image of career opportunities” by Ellie Ashford explores how "agriculture education at community colleges has moved way beyond the traditional image of ‘cows, sows and plows’ and now embraces such disparate trends as high-tech farming, genetic research, sustainability, humane animal handling and food security.”
The Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute’s community outreach efforts and training programs are noted in the article. Senior Specialist Bob King, Ph.D. also provides an example of how ALSI responds to the unique issues found in Monroe County.
