Johnson & Johnson Vaccine: Limited Number Available for MCC Students Who Come to Campus

UPDATE: Vaccines scheduled through MCC are on pause until further notice.

Dear Faculty and Staff, For your reference, the following information was shared with eliglble students via email, the Student Tribune, etc.

Starting today, in partnership with SUNY and the New York State Department of Health, a limited number of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is available this week for MCC resident students, student-athletes, and students who come to campus for in-person classes and services.

While you are not required to be vaccinated, by doing so, you protect yourself and help MCC and our community take strides toward having a more typical campus experience in the fall.

These are the one-time Johnson & Johnson vaccine; you will not need to schedule a second appointment. Supplies are limited, so please register this week to reserve your spot. *

This opportunity is for students who are over 18, have not had a previous vaccine or plasma treatment for COVID-19, do not anticipate a serious reaction to the vaccine, and do not have COVID symptoms.

  • If you received your first vaccination shot with another provider, you must return to that provider for your second shot.
  • If you already have an appointment scheduled with another provider, but prefer to register with MCC, please be sure to cancel your other appointment after your MCC appointment is confirmed.

*Vaccine Registration Dates and Times
MCC staff will help you register and schedule your appointment. You must register at MCC. In addition to your MCC ID, please bring your insurance information and Social Security Number. Registration will be held in the Empire Room (3-209), adjacent to MCC’s Pooled Testing Center, this week at the following times:

  • Monday, April 12: 2:00-4:00 p.m. (This session is especially for resident students.)
  • Tuesday, April 13:  2:30-4:30 p.m.

  • Thursday, April 15: 10:00 a.m.-noon
  • Friday, April 16: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Your vaccine appointment will be at the Dome Arena in Henrietta, just down the road from the Brighton Campus (map). You will receive your vaccination in a separate space within the Dome Arena, away from the general public. Vaccines will be distributed between 11:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday this week. You will receive more information and an appointment confirmation form to take to your appointment after you register at MCC. If you need transportation assistance, please let the staff know when you register for your appointment.

Even if you have received the COVID-19 vaccine, you must continue to test and follow other MCC safety protocols such as wearing face coverings, frequently washing hands, and socially distancing. The vaccine does not impact testing results.
