Campus-wide Volunteers Make Alumni Week and Homecoming a Success

The MCC Foundation would like to thank the members of the Alumni Week and Homecoming 2009 Planning Committee for their outstanding effort to reconnect alumni, students and friends to MCC.  Over 800 people participated in 11 events from September 25 to October 3.

The week began with an Alumni Appreciation Reception celebrating the success of MCC’s top scholars. At the reception, MCC alumnus Timothy Wentworth presented a gift of $103,000 to the MCC Foundation on behalf of himself and his wife Robin who is an MCC alumna. (Look for more information on this incredible act of generosity in an upcoming issue of the MCC Daily Tribune!) Homecoming Saturday was filled with fun events, starting with the 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships, MCC Tribunes games and  ending with comedians Caroline Rhea and Jamie Lissow. The past, present and future of the Damon City Campus was celebrated with an exceptional historical display developed by MCC Archivist Eric Johannisson. Despite the rain on October 2, the Alumni Golf Outing celebrating Tom Proietti’s 25th anniversary of teaching was sold out.  Alumni took advantage of an exceptional opportunity to learn cooking and wine pairing techniques from Michelle Bartell and Gerry Brinkman. The week closed with alumni from the first graduating class celebrating their 45th reunion with others who attended and taught at MCC’s Alexander Street Campus.
