The 15th annual Pete Pavia Memorial Scholarship men's basketball tournament will be played on Monagan Court at MCC this weekend.
The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Pete Pavia, a longtime Division I basketball official from Rochester. Pete was also active in charity efforts for Camp Good Days and Special Times until his death in 1992 at the age of 54.
The tournament will kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday as Notre Dame Prep takes on SUNY Orange. MCC will then take the floor at 8 p.m. against SUNY Delhi. The consolation game will be 1 p.m. on Saturday followed by the championship game at 3 p.m.
All proceeds from the tournament will be put toward the Pete Pavia Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was established to provide financial assistance for student-athletes at MCC.
