Employees Needed to Participate in Baseline COVID-19 Testing

The rapid spread of the omicron variant has led to changes in SUNY and MCC approaches to COVID testing during the first two weeks of the Spring Semester 2022. We believe these adjustments give us the best chance to continue providing a safe, successful and inspiring academic experience for our MCC community.

Regardless of vaccination status, if you work in-person at an MCC site or campus, we strongly encourage you to test at MCC’s Pooled Testing Center on the Brighton Campus—at least once—between Monday, Jan. 24 through Thursday, Feb. 3. By doing so, you will help MCC deliver a comprehensive baseline assessment of the absence/presence of COVID-19 within the college community.

Starting Monday, Jan. 24, expanded testing center hours are as follows (no appointment necessary):

  • Monday, Jan. 24           12:30–6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 25           9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 26     9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, Jan. 27         12:30–6:30 p.m.
  • Monday, Jan. 31           12:30–6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 1            9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 2       9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 3           12:30–3:00 p.m.

Only tests conducted at MCC’s Pooled Testing Center on the Brighton Campus (Flynn Campus Center Forum/Warshof Conference Center) can be part of the assessment. Test results from outside providers and home tests cannot be included in the baseline assessment. (The NYS Community COVID-19 Test Site in the Gilman Lounge is open to the public and is considered an outside provider.)

  • If you previously and voluntarily verified your vaccination, weekly testing is not required, but your participation in this baseline-testing period is strongly encouraged and appreciated. After Feb. 3, participation in on-campus testing is optional for colleagues who have verified vaccination and work in person.
  • If you have not voluntarily verified your vaccination status or have received an approved exemption, weekly testing is required after the Jan. 24-Feb. 3 baseline-assessment period.
  • If you recently tested positive for COVID-19, do not participate in pooled testing for 90 days from your initial infection date.
  • If you feel ill, do not come to campus.
