Don't Miss Scholars' Day 2018

As the spring semester gets underway, don't forget to think about presenting, and promoting student presentations at Scholars' Day 2018.

The application deadline is the beginning of March, which will no doubt be here sooner than we expect. Applications are currently being accepted. Students will need to submit an abstract, and have a faculty mentor supporting the project. We welcome all submissions.

All details are available at https://www.monroecc.edu/events/scholars-day/

This year features a new program supported by the MCC Foundation called Launch Your Business, a competition for entrepreneurs. See the website for details.

The keynote speakers for this year's Scholars' Day are Jessica Jackley, entrepreneur, co-founder of KIVA (the world's largest microlending website), adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California, and her husband Reza Aslan, a religious studies scholar and media commentator, whose books include: No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam; Beyond Fundamentalism: Confronting Religious Extremism in the Age of Globalization; and Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, and founder of Aslan Media, an alternative media outlet for the Middle East and members of Middle Eastern diaspora. Aslan is a professor of creative writing at the University of California, Riverside.

We look forward to receiving your proposals.
