TCC: Join a Reflective Practice Group This Semester

MCC's Reflective Practice Groups are highlighted in the Teaching and Learning Toolkit, recently published by Achieving the Dream (see p. 81 in the linked PDF).

A Reflective Practice Group helps you reflect critically about your teaching/professional work among friends. RPGs are led by colleagues who are trained facilitators, and they use structured protocols to look at curriculum, teaching/workplace dilemmas, student work, contemporary issues, and pivotal moments so that participants can provide each other with specific and actionable feedback.

As described in the Teaching and Learning Toolkit, "This process is revelatory for educators. It strengthens their use of the iterative process of inquiry and reflection, helping them regularly pause, reflect on something they have tried, and improve on their teaching. Working as a group [...] empowers more meaningful progress than could be made individually."

Three RPGs are running this year, and meetings will continue remotely, on Zoom, for the spring semester.

If you are interested in joining one, please contact any of the facilitators listed below. We think you will find that in these difficult, unnerving times, belonging to an RPG is not only something to do for annual faculty development, but is an act of self-care.

RPGs are open to all faculty and staff.

We welcome faculty and staff to join our monthly RPG! Topics are selected based on the interests of the group. This is a supportive place to share and reflect on our challenges, discoveries, and ideas as educators.
