MCC Libraries Assistant Director Micquel Little traveled to the library community’s largest conference this past month, the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference. Micquel has been an active member of ALA for the past four years, three of which she has chaired a subsection of ALA, the RUSA STARS (Reference and User Services: Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section) Membership Committee. Micquel’s committee work includes recruiting and outreach to STAR members throughout the year, attendance at conferences, virtual meetings on a regular basis, etc. This year, it also included leading an extended team in organizing and hosting the 10th Anniversary Celebration of STARs. The celebration planning pulled together a team from across the country, solicited and received generous vendor support, and negotiated long distance planning of specifics throughout the past year. The Celebration was a success with great attendance, a review of the history of STARs, food, discussion, and colleagues.
