MCC Joins 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge

On September 18, 2020, Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr's talk, titled "America Is Changing: Are You Ready?," challenged participants to examine their own biases, behaviors and belief systems as they relate to diversity, race, equity, education and privilege. Doing so allows all members of the MCC community to be better informed and equipped to take action against prejudice, racism, microaggressions, supremacy and oppression. Finally, he reminded us of the need for more antiracist allies and leaders within higher education. I hope that you agree that this is integral to the mission of MCC.

In order to hold ourselves accountable, the President's Cabinet has committed to participating in the 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge sponsored by the United Way of Rochester, and we invite every member of the MCC community to join us on this journey to examining our behaviors.

Today, October 23, 2020, is the first day of the challenge. And, if you want to join us in the challenge, all you have to do is send me your email address and I will send you the challenge for the day every morning. Once received, I will send you an introductory email for the challenge that asks you to complete a short survey. Then you will be all caught up.

What a great sign of our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion if we could get 40% of our faculty and staff to participate. I believe in MCC and I am confident we can do it. Let us set the example for others to follow.
