Monroe County Legislature Initiates Technology Fee Increase Relief for MCC Students

At its November 9, 2021 meeting, the Monroe County Legislature unanimously approved a resolution to add $700,000 to MCC’s restricted to provide relief of the MCC technology fee increase to all credit students enrolled in the 2021-2022 academic year.

The resolution was presented by County Legislators George Hebert (15th District – Penfield, Webster) and Steve Brew (12th District – Chili, Henrietta, Riga, Wheatland) following a visit to MCC where they met with faculty and administrators—including Dean Margaret Kaminsky (STEM and Health), Associate Professor Jonathon Little (Chemistry and Geosciences), and Professor and Endowed Chair Dr. Alexis Vogt (Engineering Technologies)—about the important role technology plays in MCC academic programs.

Legislators recognize and value how a well-maintained information technology infrastructure is key to providing a high-quality learning environment for students and colleagues. They also recognize how our resilient students have continued their studies and overcome significant challenges—including financial obstacles—to stay engaged in learning as they work toward their academic goals.

Administrative Services representatives are working to post credits to student accounts in December 2021.

Please join us in expressing gratitude to the Monroe County Legislature for their continued support of MCC and our students.
