At the July 15, 2010 retirement party for Brighton Police Chief and MCC graduate, Thomas M. Voelkl, John Mallaber of the MCC Public Safety Department announced that the departmental Outstanding Officer Award would be re-named the “Thomas M. Voelkl Outstanding Officer Award” in recognition to his many years of dedicated service and support to the MCC community and department of Public Safety. The 2009 recipient of the award was the entire Public Safety Department for the tremendous amount of work and long hours that were necessary of the entire department in achieving the recent Peace Officer certification. It is fitting that this award bears the name of Chief Voelkl as he was instrumental in making this transition a reality.
