Bess Watts, Principal Library Clerk, Named Grand Marshal of the 2011 Rochester Pride Parade


On July 24,  New York became the latest state to offer civil marriage to same-sex couples.  Bess Watts, Principal Library Clerk and member of the MCC Diversity Council as well as the President of the local chapter of Pride at Work AFL-CIO, has been publicly recognized as being instrumental in the successful passage of the marriage legislation.  Bess and her wife Anne Tischer were named Grand Marshals of the 2011 Rochester Pride Parade and will also be recipients of a Monroe County Legislature Proclamation on August 9th. Bess was also recently elected to the National Executive Board of Pride at Work, the LGBT constituency group of AFL-CIO.
