Dr. Henry "Pete" French Elected President of The Reynold's Library Foundation

On June 15, 2005, Pete French will become President of The Reynold's Library Foundation which promotes private support to the Rochester Public Library.  A trustee since 1991, French has also served as President of the Rochester Public Library (1998-2000), and President of the Friends of the Rochester Public Library (1988-1991).

Working with the City Historian Ruth Rosenberg-Napersteck, and the Director Emeritus Harold Hacker (1954-1978) of the Rochester Public Library and the Monroe County Library Systems, French will be active in research and writing about the Reynold's Library, the first in the area, then known as the Rochester Athenaeum in 1829 with Nathaniel Rochester as its first President.  Abeland Reynolds formed the nucleus of The Reynolds Library, which today is the core of the Rochester/Monroe County Library System.

As he retires after a 41 year career association with MCC, he is excited about this challenging opportunity.  French retires on June 30 and there will be a party in his honour in the Board Lounge on June 22 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. to which all are welcome.
