The November 10 issue of the Democrat and Chronicle included the article “
Angela Davis: Renew efforts for justice, democracy” by Jim Goodman.
The article covered a recent community event, “An Evening of Empowerment with Angela Davis,” organized by MJS Productions and led by MCC Associate Professor Melany J. Silas (Health and Physical Education). Co-sponsored by MCC’s Diversity Council, the sold-out event featured activist and author Angela Davis and also honored five local residents for their efforts to empower others in our community. MCC Professor Tokeya C. Graham (English/Philosophy) served as mistress of ceremonies. About 1,200 people attended.
