Update on SUNY Vax Mandate

Yesterday, September 27 was the deadline for students who attend MCC in person to verify their vaccination with MCC Health Services. The SUNY COVID-19 vaccination policy prioritizes our students’ health and well-being and applies to students:

  • attending in-person classes,
  • participating in on-campus activities or services,
  • working on campus, and/or
  • living in the residence halls.

As of 5 p.m. yesterday, nearly 4,000 students verified their vaccination. The processing of vaccination cards continues as many were submitted over the weekend and yesterday leading up to the deadline.

Thank you to those colleagues who have contributed their time and expertise to this process and to those who volunteered to contact individual MCC students to ensure they are compliant with the policy. We will continue to reach out to individual students this week in order to encourage them to get vaccinated and to stay on track towards their academic goals.

A student is compliant with the SUNY vaccine policy if they have either: (1) been fully vaccinated; (2) had at least one vaccine dose and been granted a temporary medical accommodation to complete any vaccine series; or (3) been granted a medical or religious exemption.

MCC will begin the administrative withdrawal process for students who attend in person and who are not in compliance with the SUNY vaccine policy. (Administrative withdrawals will only apply to in-person courses.)

More information about this process will be shared as soon as possible.
