Dr. McKinsey-Mabry's Expanded Role Helps Create Bridge Between 2 Divisions

Pending MCC Board of Trustees’ approval in December, Acting Vice President of Student Services Dr. Kim McKinsey-Mabry has accepted the opportunity to also serve as MCC’s acting provost, effective January 1, 2022.

Having served MCC previously as an academic dean and assistant to the provost, Dr. McKinsey-Mabry is uniquely suited for this role. She has years of leadership experience in Academic Services and currently serves as acting vice president for Student Services. I am confident that Dr. McKinsey-Mabry will bring an insightful perspective on how these two divisions can best complement the work we all commit to daily to benefit MCC students. Outside of a singular President's Cabinet representative for these divisions, no additional changes within Academic Services’ departments and reporting lines are proposed at this time.

We appreciate Dr. McKinsey-Mabry’s willingness to provide oversight for Academic Services as we prepare to conduct a search for the future leadership of Academic Services and Student Services.

Through this transitional role, Dr. McKinsey-Mabry will:

  • leverage expertise and talent across Academic Services and Student Services to enhance and align supports for MCC students,
  • advise me and President's Cabinet members on strategies which address MCC employee concerns of “silos” currently existing across the divisions, and
  • ensure continuity of executive leadership for Academic Services upon the departure of Provost and Vice President Dr. Andrea Wade on December 31, 2021 until a permanent leader is appointed in 2022.

Please join me in expressing our thanks and appreciation for Dr. McKinsey-Mabry's willingness to provide steady and competent leadership in this expanded transitional capacity.
