New Starfish Survey Opens Monday

In an effort to assist the college-wide response to supporting our students through these extraordinary times, we will be running an additional Starfish survey this semester. The Distance Learning Transitions Survey will open Monday March 30 and run through April 6. Faculty will receive a link to their surveys via email inviting them to provide feedback on their students.

The Distance Learning Transitions Survey is intended to proactively connect students with resources to help them remain successful in online environments. The following items will be available for faculty to select for their students:

  • Great Participation!: Raise this kudo to acknowledge a student's positive contributions in class discussions.
  • You rock!: Raise this kudo to acknowledge a student's outstanding academic performance in your class.
  • Overcoming Adversity: Raise this kudo to acknowledge a student's perseverance in the face of personal challenges (Comments Required).
  • No Recent Contact, Login, or Online Presence - Outreach Requested: Raise this flag forstudents who have not recently participated with the virtual classroom methods in place for your class. Your comments are required and ARE VISIBLE to the student. The student's Success Coach or School Specialist will try to contact the student to provide assistance.
  • Urgent Academic Concern - Outreach Requested: Raise this flag for students who are attending/participating in your class but are struggling to do well. Remember your comments ARE VISIBLE to the student: please share your concerns and strategies to improve. The student's Success Coach or School Specialist will attempt outreach to the student to try to help.
  • Technology Concerns: Limited Access or Proficiency - Outreach Requested: Raise this referral for students with insufficient access to or difficulty using the technology required to be successful in your class. Your comments are required but are NOT shared with the student.
  • Home/Family Assistance - Outreach Requested: Raise this referral for students who are struggling to address issues at home or with loved ones (such as food or housing insecurity, or financial issues), and this hardship is limiting their potential for success in your class. Your comments are required but are NOT shared with the student. A staff member will try to contact the student and connect them with appropriate support

We have a team of staff responders who are ready to address issues identified by faculty. We want to help all faculty make sure their students feel supported and that they are still making progress toward their goals.

Thank you in advance for your participation. Be well!
