MCC Foundation’s 5th Annual Walk/Run for Scholarships

The Monroe Community College Foundation will host its 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships at Homecoming, Saturday morning, Sept. 24 on the Brighton Campus. The event is part of Alumni Week and Homecoming 2011 sponsored in partnership with the Campus Activities Board.

President Anne M. Kress will start the race. MCC faculty and staff are encouraged to put together teams—or join one of the several teams that have already been formed—and support this Homecoming tradition that results in scholarships and funds for educational innovation at MCC. Student participants will be eligible to have their names included in a scholarship drawing after the race. Our goal is to have over 125 walkers or runners participate!

The walk/run is open to the college community and general public. Tickets are $18 per person for those who pre-register by Sept. 21 and $23 for walk-ins. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Alumni Hospitality Tent adjacent to John L. DiMarco Field. The 3.1 mile walk/run will start at 11 a.m.  Parking is available in Lot G. Prizes for men’s and women's tops finishers and team spirit will be awarded!

During the tailgate party and lunch immediately following the race, the names of two students will be selected to receive $250 scholarships! To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be currently enrolled at MCC, must participate in the race and be present during the drawing. (Tickets for the Tailgate Party, including a hot buffet lunch, are not included in the price of the race and may be purchased separately for $8.)

To register for the walk/run complete and return the registration form in the attached brochure, visit at "https://www.monroecc.edu/go/alumni" to register or contact Karen Shaw at <mailto:kshaw@monroecc.edu> or x1500.
