MCC Education Student Appointed to a National Ambassador Position

Education student, Patty McCasland, was appointed to the position as a national ambassador for Educators Rising. McCasland attended the annual conference with the Future Educators Club in June 2016 in Boston, MA with Professor Aimee Shaver and Professor Rick Costanza. At the conference, McCasland presented a workshop on Financial Literacy for students in middle and high schools around the country. She was pinged by conference staff as a rising leader.

McCasland applied to the position of Educators Rising Ambassador and serves a one-year term as the only ambassador representing a college. This puts a national spotlight on Monroe Community College and their educational programs.

An Educators Rising Ambassador has the responsibility of engaging with Educators Rising members and future educators on social media, sharing important information from the association and profession. She will be responsible for networking with other colleges and encouraging secondary students to enter the education profession while creating buzz for the EdRising Standards and Curricula. Patty will continue her term as Ambassador and attend the national conference in Pheonix, AZ in June 2017 with Professor Shaver and several of her club leaders.
