Consider Updating Your Outgoing Phone Message Today

Today, March 18, marks an important transition for our campus community. For the majority of MCC employees, this will be your last day on campus until April or further notice.

Except for critical staff, MCC employees are asked to consider updating their outgoing voicemail message to reflect that the College has limited access to campus. By doing so, students and others who call will receive a clear message not to come to campus. A sample message is below as well as other options for individual employees and departments to consider. Employees do not need to come to campus to update their message; visit the Telecommunications web page for more information. Links to Cisco phone guides are located at the bottom of the web page.

Sample Outgoing Message:

"Hello. Thank you for calling Monroe Community College. You have reached the desk of [NAME], [TITLE]. At this time, for your safety and mine, we ask that you not come to campus. Please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible or send an email to youremail@monroecc.edu. MCC has limited access to its campuses until further notice. In the meantime, visit www.monroecc.edu for more information."

Individual Voicemail Options:

  • "For a quicker response, please email me at youremail@monroecc.edu"
  • "Please leave a voicemail and I will respond within ______ [e.g., 24 hours/2 days]"
  • "If you need immediate assistance, please call MCC's Call Center at 585-292-8310."

Department Phone Number (Main Line) Options to Consider:

  • Staff will answer phone for approved departments only
  • Voicemail will refer callers to the following options:
    • A website with resources for caller specific to department
    • Leave a message and we will receive it via email
    • Email address to send questions to
    • If this is an emergency, please call the EOC at 585-292-8310.

Thank you for considering these options.
