Opening Today: The Freedom Place Collection Exhibit in Mercer Gallery

The Freedom Place Collection, a major exhibition of rarely seen works by five African-American artists, opens today through Feb. 27, in celebration of Black History Month and as part of MCC’s commitment to foster greater awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion in society.

Mercer Gallery’s hours for this exhibit are:
10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday
1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

A slate of scheduled events, which are open to the public, can be found at "
https://www.monroecc.edu/go/mercer". Please note that although the Sankofa event is free to MCC students and employees, paper tickets are required for admission. An event that’s still in the planning stage is a panel discussion involving experts from the regional arts community who will talk about African-American art of the Harlem Renaissance period. Hosted by the African-American Affinity Group, this event will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, in Room 5-100.

For more information about the exhibit, contact Kathy Farrell, director of Mercer Gallery, at (585) 292-3121 or "
mailto:kfarrell@monroecc.edu".

The exhibition and related events are sponsored by MCC’s Diversity Council, Mercer Gallery and the Creative Arts Committee. We hope you will have a chance to enjoy this remarkable exhibit.
