ITC Audioconference - Coordinating and Teaching Biology Lecture and Lab Online

MCC will host the Instructional Technology Council’s professional development audioconference entitled, “Coordinating and Teaching Biology Lecture and Lab Online” on Tuesday, June 9, from 2:00-3:00PM in room 3-115. The presenter is Christopher A. Nichol, Sr., Natural Science Department – Earth Science, Oceanography and Marine Biology, St. Petersburg College.

Christopher Nichol has been teaching both biology lecture and lab courses online for eight years at St. Petersburg College. BSC 1005 and BSC 1005L have been a staple for general education students for years and have provided an exciting lecture and lab experience for thousands of students for years. Nichol will examine how an instructor can teach biological concepts online and describe the various “hands on” experiences that have been used to make this a viable science lab class. We will explore the pitfalls of teaching such a course in the online environment and how to overcome them.
