Thank You, From MCC's Sustainability Steering Committee

For all who contributed socks to Jim Downer's 'Living Lab,' and rehabilitation facility--thank you. By improving the lives of the horses entrusted to his care, our community becomes a much better place. This seemingly small gesture of providing preventative care for these animals goes a long way in improving all our lives.

"Something amazing occurred six-thousand years ago when the horse became our partner in building civilization, says Downer. The equine's intelligence, speed, and power gave us an entirely new approach to nearly everything associated with community,--distance travel became possible while art and culture began to spread..."

"Since then their impact on our daily lives has become ubiquitous and vastly understated. The role of the horse in transforming communities,--at it's best, has been and is a symbiotic one. When an eight foot tall, thirteen hundred pound being, who possesses unearthly speed and strength accepts you as a trusted family member,--it changes you in inexplicable ways. To be a part of that relationship is life affirming."

As MCC Values Stewardship, we are accountable to our stakeholders for responsible management of the human, fiscal, physical, and environmental resources and information entrusted to us. In no small way, even an old sock can save a life.

Again thanks to everyone who has contributed.
