Reminder: Tobacco-Free Policy Entered Full Compliance Phase Jan. 1

Please be reminded that MCC’s tobacco-free policy entered its full compliance phase on January 1, 2015. Tobacco use is prohibited on all college-owned and leased property, both indoors and outdoors. All tobacco products and e-cigarettes in use must be properly disposed of prior to entering any college property or exiting a personal vehicle.

Individuals who repeatedly violate the policy should be reported to the appropriate department:

· Employees: Human Resources – 292-2106

· Students: Student Services – 292-2122

· General Public: Public Safety – 292-2918

Student repeated violations will be treated as violations of Student Conduct Regulations. Employee repeated violations will be treated as disciplinary matters in accordance with employment contracts. Visitor repeated violations will be treated in accordance with Campus Events procedures.

MCC will continue to make every effort to assist and encourage those who wish to stop tobacco use. Employees should contact Human Resources and students should contact Health Services for assistance with smoking cessation. Additionally, the University of Rochester Medical Center received funding for a program to help community college students quit smoking using the internet. Information on WATI (Web Assisted Tobacco Intervention) smoking cessation program is at https://tinyurl.com/19s9uvo&k or 585-802-9944.

Thanks for your help in providing a learning and working environment that is healthy, respectful and safe for all.
