ITC Audioconference - Using Rubrics and Online Tools to Guide, Improve, and Assess Learning

MCC will host the Instructional Technology Council’s professional development audioconference entitled, “Using Rubrics and Online Tools to Guide, Improve, and Assess Learning,” on Tuesday, October 23 from 2:00-3:00pm in room 3-115. The presenters are: Pat Arlington, Instructor and Coordinator, Instructional Research, and Cheryl Chapman, Instructional Designer and Professor, Coastline Community College.

Large distance learning classes present special challenges to faculty who are trying to balance the use of writing assignments and meaningful projects with the time demands of grading. The presenters will show how to create scoring rubrics to guide student performance, measure robust learning outcomes, and streamline grading and feedback. Participants will be introduced to a variety of online rubric and assessment tools, including those that support assignment creation and peer review.
