Xerox Foundation to Receive Salute to Excellence

Join the MCC Foundation in honoring Xerox Foundation’s leadership and investment in public higher education at the 25th Annual Salute to Excellence dinner on Thursday evening, November 13, at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Xerox Foundation’s partnership with MCC and philanthropic support of the MCC Foundation over the past 50 years has helped increase student access to and facilitate the growth of MCC’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programs.

Motivating students to become engaged in STEM education is essential to meeting growing employer demand. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, STEM occupations make up more than one out of every 10 jobs in the U.S. and have wages approaching nearly twice the national average. Some of the most sought-after employees hold degrees in STEM fields, such as computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, information sciences and systems, computer engineering, civil engineering, economics and finance.

Xerox Foundation President Mark J. Conlin will accept the Salute to Excellence award. Michael Zimmer, president, Large Enterprise Operations-US, Xerox, is the honorary event chair.

Essie Calhoun-McDavid, chief diversity officer, Eastman Kodak Company (retired) is the dinner chair. Gold sponsors include Corning Incorporated, Democrat and Chronicle Media Group, Dixon Schwabl and Iberdrola USA.

An honored Rochester tradition since 1989, the Salute to Excellence award reflects the recipient’s commitment to public higher education and the community. Past recipients of the Salute to Excellence award include Robin ’80 and Timothy ’80 Wentworth, Corning Incorporated Foundation, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Pamela A.’79 and Arunas A. Chesonis, and the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation.

Funds raised at the Salute to Excellence support student scholarships and educational innovation at MCC. The event reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.; the dinner and award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for faculty and staff are once again available for $50 and can be purchased through the Foundation office at 262.1500 or
