The Honors Institute welcomes Scott G. Eberle, PhD, vice president for play studies at The Strong and editor of its American Journal of Play, as the first speaker in this year's Honors Institute speaker series. On Wednesday, October 23rd, at noon in room 5-100, Eberle will speak on Creativity and the Elements of Play: From Anticipation to Poise. Eberle will trace how the idea of a National Museum of Play hatched at The Strong, and how the process of play, starting in anticipation, and proceeding through surprise, pleasure, understanding, strength, and poise, feeds the creative acts. In this wide ranging talk, Eberle will draw from insights offered from the disciplines of history, neuroscience, and art.
