Sherri Kurtz Selected as 2022 League Excellence Award Recipient

It is with great pleasure that the Senate Professional Development Committee announces Sherri Kurtz, Dental Studies/Health Professions, as this year's League Excellence Award recipient.

Sherry Kurtz came to MCC seven years ago after ten years working in the dental field.  Her passion for teaching motivates her to consistently update the essential intrumentation manual, co-advise SADHA, collaborate with the Nursing Department, and faciliate various TCC events.  Most signficantly, at the start of the global pandemic, Sherri designed clinical competencies for the Zoom format and created case studies to simulate clinical experiences.  As a former student says of her, "Mrs. Kurtz’s courses are innovative and supportive for all students. She incorporates real- world learning opportunities followed by hands-on clinical practice. She prepares us for the tasks we will be performing in our future careers. She helps us understand the theories and literature that current procedures are based upon. In addition to remaining up to date with the latest instructional strategies, Mrs. Kurtz actively connects with each student."

Speaking of her students, Sherri was nominated by another previous student, Tricia Wilson, now a colleague in the Dental Studies Program.  

Clearly, the service that Sherri Kurtz provides at MCC has impacts far beyond the campus. Please join Faculty Senate as we celebrate Sherri's well-deserved award.
