<p>Whether you&rsquo;re a freshman coming to MCC for the first time or a returning student, MCC is ready to help you start the spring semester off right. <p><strong>1)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Complete mandatory daily <a href="https://www.monroecc.edu/covid/">COVID-19 self-assessments</a> and participate in required MCC <a href="https://www.monroecc.edu/coronavirus/pooled-covid-19-testing/">COVID-19 pooled testing sessions</a>. You must test negative for COVID-19 every week* to continue coming to campus. </strong>(You will not be charged for the tests.) COVID-19 pooled testing sessions are scheduled throughout the month and held in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A/B) on the Brighton Campus. &nbsp;No appointment is necessary. <p>Important dates: The next testing session will be held 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13. <strong>Students who plan to come to the Applied Technologies Center, Brighton Campus and/or Downtown Campus for any reason during the Spring 2021 Semester are required to test 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25,&nbsp;or 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. (No appointment necessary.) </strong>If you choose to be tested by another provider, you must send proof of a negative test to studentrights@monroecc.edu by Friday, Jan. 29.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>2)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Take care of textbook duties early. </strong>You can place textbook orders through the <a href="http://brightonbookstore.monroecc.edu/home">MCC Bookstore</a> web page and choose shipping or store pickup. You will use your class schedule to enter course numbers and select books and course materials. If you have questions or need help, email bookstore@monroecc.edu. The MCC Bookstore also has in-store hours by appointment. <p>Important date: Starting Monday, Jan. 11, students will be able to use their bookstore credit (financial aid).</p>

<p><strong>3)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Understand which of your courses are being offered online, remotely and on campus. </strong>Reach out to your assigned <a href="https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/advisement/">advisor</a> if you have questions about course information. You can schedule a virtual (phone, email or Zoom) appointment with your advisor. If you have a course that has an in-person lab component and want to switch to remote learning, MCC faculty and staff will work to accommodate your unique needs. Important date: The last day for students in a degree program to register is Tuesday, Jan. 19. <strong>Stay tuned to your MCC email for important information from your instructors prior to the first day of classes.</strong></p>

<p><strong>4)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Apply for financial assistance through MCC&rsquo;s <a href="https://monroecc.dreamkeepers.org/">Dreamkeepers</a> program.</strong> If you face unforeseen financial emergencies and have exhausted all other financial possibilities, you may apply for a grant (up to $500 each) to help with unexpected expenses related to laptops/technology, child care, food, housing, medical and dental expenses, transportation, books and supplies. The grants do not need to be paid back. Go to <a href="https://monroecc.dreamkeepers.org/">https://monroecc.dreamkeepers.org/</a> to apply.</p>

<p><strong>5)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Get technology help. </strong>With various distance-learning options available to match different learning styles, needs and preferences, MCC is ready to help you successfully navigate the virtual world. Technology services also include remote connectivity to tutoring, counseling, library resources and other supports. <p><strong>6)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Familiarize yourself with the college.</strong> If you&rsquo;re a new student, online orientation connects you to resources and provides important information that will help you be successful at MCC. <p><strong>7)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Take advantage of library services. </strong>Take advantage of library services. At MCC Libraries you can ask for research help, access library resources, as well as use a computer, printer, scanner and copier. The LeRoy V. Good Library on the Brighton Campus is open to the MCC community by appointment only. Many library services and resources are available online even when the buildings are closed.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>9)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Take care of yourself &ndash; physically and mentally. </strong>We understand that this is an exceptionally challenging time. MCC and SUNY have resources to help you get the support you need.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<a href="https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/stuhealth/">MCC Health Services</a> staff are available for on-campus consultations by appointment only and for telehealth services. Using the secure and confidential <a href="https://healthservices.monroecc.edu/login_directory.aspx">MCC Student Health Services Portal</a>, you will be able to communicate directly with the staff and submit and manage your health records.<br />

10 Things to Know for Spring Semester 2021
