Avalone Presents at SCUP 2021 Annual Conference (Virtual)

Valarie Avalone, director of Institutional Planning, Effectiveness & Accountability, recently served as an invited speaker with co-presenters Timothy Stokes, president of South Puget Sound Community College and Larry Goldstein, president of Campus Strategies at the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) 2021 Annual Conference (virtual). The featured presentation, "You Can’t Cut Your Way to Financial Stability," emphasized the unique financial challenges facing community colleges due to the pandemic. In addition to a brief overview of the range of financial challenges being experienced by the sector, the two campus-based leaders shared how the pandemic impacted their respective institutions. The session highlighted the role integrated planning, aligned with resource management, plays in establishing financial stability as a means for enhancing institutional effectiveness.

Avalone also hosted a Community College gathering, which provided a forum for community college administrators and staff to meet and discuss the challenges and opportunities unique to our sector.
