AmeriCorps Members Sworn In

Following two weeks of training at the Damon City Campus, this year’s 45 members of Rochester AmeriCorps were officially sworn-in on Friday, September 23. These individuals will serve the local community on a full-time basis through August 2012, each completing at least 1,700 hours of service. They have been placed in a variety of not-for-profit and government organizations to provide youth development, criminal justice, employment readiness, and financial literacy services. In exchange for their year-long commitment, AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance, health insurance, training, student loan forbearance, and a child care allowance. Upon completion of their term of service, members also receive an education award of $5,530 that can be used toward repaying qualified student loans or covering future educational expenses. Rochester AmeriCorps, now in its 18th year,  is sponsored by MCC and is based at the Damon City Campus.
