Laurel Sanger Appointed Dean of Science, Health, and Business

I am very pleased to announce that Laurel Sanger‘s appointment as the Dean of Science, Health, and Business was approved by the MCC Board of Trustees yesterday.

Laurel practiced as a registered nurse for many years in Indianapolis and Rochester, both as a staff nurse and a nurse manager. She began her career at MCC as an adjunct instructor in the nursing program in 1996, moving to full-time status in 1998. In 2003, she was appointed the chair of the department.  In March, 2011, she was appointed Interim Dean of the Division.

Laurel served for two years as the President of the Council for Associate Degree Nursing in New York State and is active in the Finger Lakes Organization of Nurse Executives. In addition, she is a member of the Finger Lakes Hub of the Empire State STEM Learning Network.

Because of her extensive experience in the healthcare field, because of her effective advocacy at MCC, and because of her collaborative leadership, Laurel is in an ideal position to lead this division. She will lead the faculty and staff as they focus on completion and on the need to respond to the changing educational and work environments.

I’d like to thank the Administrative and SCAA search committees and the many faculty and staff who participated in the search. Your insights and your commitment shaped this crucial task and helped to identify an excellent candidate.
