The 2014 Model United Nations Program is Under Way

The 13th Annual Model United Nations Program is under way again

March 29, 2014- April 4th in New York City

Students, faculty and friends, it’s that time of year again and Monroe Community College’s award winning Model UN Program is under way and we are hoping  that students will take advantage of this great opportunity and apply this year.

Model United Nations (informally abbreviated as Model UN or MUN) at MCC, is a perfect example of collaboration across disciplines.  Model UN is an academic and co-curricular simulation of the "
https://www.un.org/" United Nations whose goal is to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model United Nations, students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

Students, you will get the opportunity to:

·       Interact with over 5,000 students from all over the world, learning to appreciate how different cultures work together
·       Travel to New York City for one week to participate in the largest conference in the Northeast
·       Participate in an honors course earning 4 credit hours
·       Learn valuable leadership skills and understand global perspectives on issues
