MCC Board of Trustees Meeting Report


The MCC Board of Trustees met on Monday, February 6, and took the following actions:

1.     Accepted the interim financial reports as of November 30 and December 31, 2011.

2.     Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of November and December, 2011.

3.     Approved the annual audit report of Monroe Community College for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2011, as submitted by Bonadio & Co., LLP.

4.     Adopted “Fulfilling the Promise: Monroe Community College’s 2012-2016 Strategic Plan.” The Board applauded the efforts of the Strategic Planning Committee, represented at the meeting by Chairs Valarie Avalone and David Shaw. (See related article in the MCC Daily Tribune.)

5.     Authorized the transfer of funds between accounts.

6.     Approved the retirement of Ellen Gozik in accordance with Article 27 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association, effective January 20, 2012.

7.     Approved the appointment of Laurel Sanger as Dean, Science, Health and Business, effective January 17, 2012.

8.     Approved the appointment of Alice Wilson, Librarian, as Interim Director, Libraries effective January 4, 2012.

9.     Approved the appointment of David Lane, Associate Director, Communications and Network Services as Acting Director, Communications and Network Services effective January 6, 2012.

10.  Approved the appointment of Javier Ayala, Ph.D., as Dean, Career Technical Education effective February 7, 2012.

11.  Conducted an executive session pursuant to Public Officers Law Section 05, subsections e and h.


The board heard presentations about the MCC Association budget and heard from MCC Foundation Chair David Mack.

Following the meeting, President Kress answered questions from news media regarding the college's lease at the Sibley Building, noting that the Board had productive discussions and that the college would not negotiate the terms of the lease via the media.
