Monroe Community College Creative Arts Committee

JUST A REMINDER...the deadline (Monday, April 30, 2007) is approaching!

Notes from the Creative Arts Committee:

The Creative Arts Committee now, in its sixth year of programming, would like to make you aware of our vision for next year's programming events, artist’s workshops, residencies, and lecture series. This committee, which is a collaboration between Academic Services and Student Services, has determined a need for programming that addresses the theme of Careers in the Arts, which we hope to include in our programming series slated for April 2008.

We are seeking your help and support for ideas for presenters that can address this idea/issue for a forum scheduled for April 2008.  The week’s activities will include an open forum presentation, individual lectures, and workshops.  We believe these events will enhance opportunities for learning for everyone involved and address the issue of lack of knowledge of opportunity for a career in the arts.  The hope is that you and your students will participate in these events.  Should you have an idea for a lecturer, workshop, or residency that will support our mission, feel free to respond by filling out the attached proposal.  Our deadline for submissions is April 30, 2007.

The Creative Arts Mission is to develop a student-centered learning initiative that incorporates the combination of arts in a holistic fashion with the educational mission of our institution.  Its foundation is built on collaboration and commitment between the Academic and Student Services-classroom instruction linked with the real-life experience.

Last year’s arts lecture series and artists workshops and residencies programs involved over 6,000 students and faculty in this wide array of activities.  These programs and projects accomplished a balance between academic departments and co-curricular initiatives, integrated learning in and about the arts across disciplines and curriculum, and provided real world contexts for learning.  We hope that you will be involved and that your students will be involved to help achieve this mission and ultimately support the Arts.
