Janet Glocker Represents MCC, Community Colleges in Recent SUNY Health Affairs Conversation

Vice President Janet J. Glocker served on a panel that discussed the “Five Priorities in Health Affairs” as part the eighth and final strategic planning statewide conversation hosted by SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher. The event was held on March 18 at the University at Albany.

As a member of the SUNY Strategic Plan Health Affairs Working Group, Vice President Glocker represents the community college perspective. The working group seeks to unify SUNY’s reputation and significant contribution to health care in New York state. It also works to position SUNY as a national model for accelerated advances in biomedical science, healthcare delivery, work force renewal and economic prosperity.

After significant research and consultation within SUNY, the five priorities or recommendations presented by the Health Affairs Working Group include:

1. Secure New York State’s supply of qualified health professionals.

2. Advance the health and quality of life in communities across the state by using SUNY’s talent pool to enhance the quality of care and to help set New York State health policy.

3. Improve New York state’s health through SUNY-wide biomedical research.

4. Play a significant role in the rebuilding of the NYS economy through SUNY’s strengths, capabilities and contributions to Health Affairs.

5.  Increase SUNY’s health and research prominence through engagement as a responsible member of the global community.
