Daylight Saving Time (DST) Problem

This year’s Daylight Savings Time (DST) is changing and will begin on March 11, 2007 and end on November 4, 2007.  The new schedule will make DST four weeks longer and will cause implications for certain technologies.    You may have already seen a problem with your outlook calendar if you have scheduled meetings during the new DST period.   Unless certain updates are applied to your computer, it is possible that the time zone settings for your computer clock may be incorrect during this four week period.  When your time zone settings are incorrect your clock will be off by one hour.  ETS has applied all Microsoft patches required to fix this problem.  Unfortunately if you schedule meetings in this time frame prior to the patches being applied to your PC, you will notice your meetings are off by one hour.  You will need to adjust these meetings manually.

How do you know if you have a DST problem?

You can check to see if you are experiencing a problem with your calendar by printing out your calendar for the March 11, 2007 – April 1, 2007 time period and if your appointments are an hour off you will need to adjust these meetings manually.

Please call the Help Desk at extension (x4357) option 1 and they will be able to help you if you have any questions.
