February Events at the Teaching & Creativity Center


The TCC has several great programs planned for February! 

Adjunct Faculty Supper for Success: Monday, February 3; 5-6:30pm in Monroe B.  We will serve supper at 5pm and then have a workshop entitled “Student Resistance to Learning: Causes and Strategies for Response,” led by Julie Damerell (ESOL/Transitional Studies) and Neeta Primo (Mathematics).  Julie and Neeta also chair the faculty committees of the Teaching & Creativity Center. TCC Workshop: Thursday, February 6; 2-3:20 pm in the Brighton TCC (12-201).  “‘WR’ at MCC: Deciphering one proven high-impact practice” During this interactive session, participants will learn about the importance and impact of incorporating writing into their pedagogy.  Working together, participants will brainstorm suggestions for how to incorporate writing into a course as well as further develop their current skills.  (This session is open to all faculty members, including those not currently involved in the writing intensive program.)  Facilitators:  Amy Burtner (English), MaryJo Witz (Biology).  To RSVP, go to

TCC Conversations: “Defining & Recognizing Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines”.  This month, we continue our year-long series of Conversations based on Stephen Brookfield’s “Teaching for Critical Thinking”.  Our February Conversations will stem from Chapter 7, but participants are not required to have read the book.
