Institutional Research Study Reveals How to Help Incoming Students Adjust to Their First Semester.

The Student Expectations and Student Experiences study is conducted every four years. It involves surveying incoming students at two points in time:

  1. Before they start classes so that we can learn what their expectations are about MCC.
  2. During intersession so that we can find out their actual experiences.

For the latest study, the IR Office surveyed incoming students in summer 2017 then intersession 2018, and found several areas in which their expectations deviated from what they actually experienced. The findings reveal academic, financial, and personal issues that could be addressed with students prior to the start of classes so that they know what to expect at MCC.
