STARS presented at St. John Fisher College

Eric Wheeler, interim Director, Veteran Services and Holly Wheeler, Interim Assistant to the Provost, Academic Services helped facilitate a full program of the Supporting Transitioning and Returning Service Members (STARS) Project for some 45 faculty, staff, and administrators at St. John Fisher College. Designed to be a template that any institution could customize to their own population, this is the first time STARS has been exported right from MCC to another institution. Wheeler and Wheeler presented "Military Culture and Transition to Academic Culture," Laura Stradley, Director of the Monroe County Veterans Services Agency presented "Understanding Benefits for Veteran and Military Students," Dr. Anthony Ziarnowski from the Rochester Vet Center presented "Veterans Health Care," and a panel of SJFC veteran students facilitated a discussion on strategies for working with veteran students in the classroom.
